Frankincense
A resinous, slightly smoky note with deep ceremonial and spiritual associations across cultures.
Origin
Harvested as a resin (also called olibanum) from Boswellia trees native to Oman, Somalia, and Yemen, historically traded along ancient incense routes.
Character
Resinous and slightly citrusy-green when fresh, turning warm and smoky as it dries down — often used to add a contemplative, almost sacred quality to a fragrance.
