Office-Appropriate Scents: A Guide

Shared, enclosed spaces change the rules for fragrance. A scent that's perfect for a night out can be genuinely disruptive in a small meeting room eight hours later — not because it's a bad fragrance, but because the context calls for restraint.

Choose Lighter Concentrations

EDT and lighter EDP formulations are usually the better office choice over Parfum/Extrait or heavier attars — they project less and fade gracefully rather than lingering in a closed room after you've left it.

Favor Clean, Simple Profiles

Citrus, light musks, and soft woods (our Citrus Bloom, Silver Musk, and Blue Cedar are built exactly for this) tend to read as "clean" rather than "fragranced" — which is usually the effect you want in a professional setting.

Apply Less Than You Think You Need

The office "two spray" rule exists for a reason: one spray at the base of the throat and one at the wrist is enough for anyone nearby to notice you smell good, without anyone three desks away being able to identify what you're wearing.

Reapply, Don't Overlayer

If a scent fades by early afternoon, a single light reapplication is better than piling on a second, different fragrance on top of the first — which usually just muddies both.
